Gynecology & Obstetrics Rotations

Just reached home after the orientation at the women's hospital, my workplace for this 1 month.
The October vacation is over.1 week passed so quickly.The next vacation is nowhere in sight.Never mind, I have to make best use of my time at the Women's hospital, for my Nepalese sisters who have been bearing so many gynecological and obstetrical problems without a word of complain.
According to the UNICEF's 2006 report 1 in every 200 pregnant women in Nepal dies giving birth. In a country like Nepal reasons definitely can be numerous, poor access to medical care, poor health education,poverty, malnutrition and the low status of women are the main causes that we all know.
Seclusion of women during menses is not a new phenomenon for our culture.However due to extreme seclusion at some villages in Karnali zone, young girls and women die due to infection and other health problems as a complication of this extreme cultural or religious belief.(These secluded girls have to wash themselves, their clothes and mattress/blankets everyday-during cold season often they are sleeping using the same wet mattress in a shed).
Dysmenorrhea (uterine pain during mensuration) ,Premenstrual syndrome etc are some of the many problems that even the males should have knowledge about so they can have a better understandings with their partners or family members.
Its not easy to give birth to a child but a mother does it.We often forget the value of women and take their feelings and care for granted.I specially hate when boys add mother/sister to a swearing word.I don't think men's manhood does lie in such words.In my ideal world, anybody respecting their mother wouldn't definitely utter such words.
There are so many things to write, however time is limited for today.Have to wake up at 5.45 to 6 tomorrow.Reporting time is 7. 15 AM.Luckily its nearer than the children's Hospital.
